dCS (Data Conversion Systems) is a British high-end audio manufacturer founded in 1987 in Cambridge, England, originally developing precision digital converters for military and telecommunications applications. The company pioneered consumer digital audio with the world's first 24-bit DAC for home use, the Elgar, and is the inventor of the proprietary Ring DAC technology that underpins its entire product line. dCS designs, engineers, and hand-assembles all products at its Cambridge facility, producing DACs, network streamers, CD/SACD transports, upsamplers, and master clocks that are widely regarded as benchmarks in high-fidelity digital audio reproduction.
