About the dCS Verdi

The dCS Verdi SACD transport was developed to bring the benefits of Super Audio CD into the dCS product line. It plays SACD or Hybrid discs and outputs the encrypted 1-bit, 2.822MS/s DSD data via an IEEE1394 FireWire interface, ready for conversion to high-quality audio by compatible dCS DACs. It also plays standard CDs, outputting 16-bit/44.1kHz data through multiple digital outputs including AES/EBU XLR, SPDIF (RCA, BNC, TosLink optical), and SDIF-2 interfaces. The Verdi supports upsampling of CD data to DSD when used with a dCS upsampler. It features a word clock input for synchronization to a master clock or DAC running in master mode, reducing jitter and improving sound quality. The transport is based on a flexible digital platform using FPGA and DSP chips, allowing firmware upgrades via CD or PC. It includes a remote control and is housed in a robust anodized aluminum chassis. The Verdi uses a Sony drawer-loading mechanism with dual lasers for CD and SACD reading. It is a Class 1 Laser Product compliant with U.S. FDA regulations.
