The dCS Puccini is a high-end, all-in-one CD/SACD player and DAC that combines advanced upsampling, digital-to-analog conversion, and clocking technologies in a single chassis. It features a sleek solid aluminium fascia and casing, metal buttons, and a smooth transport mechanism with a dual-laser CD/SACD mechanism. Puccini uses dCS's proprietary DSD signal processing and an enhanced version of the patented dCS Ring DAC, oversampling incoming data to 5 bits at 2.822 or 3.07 MS/s, delivering exceptional detail and realism. It can upsample conventional PCM CDs to DSD sample rates and offers selectable PCM or DSD playback modes. The player includes a digital volume control allowing direct connection to power amplifiers, two digital inputs for other sources to benefit from the onboard Ring DAC, and a precision VCXO clock generator that can synchronize to an external master clock to reduce jitter. The Puccini supports multiple DSP filter options and benefits from firmware updates via dCS's programmable logic approach. It outputs balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) analog signals with selectable maximum output levels (2V or 6V). Dimensions are approximately 460mm x 110mm x 400mm, and it weighs about 12.1 kg. The Puccini U-Clock is an optional external master clock that further reduces jitter and includes a USB-to-S/PDIF converter for high-resolution computer audio playback.
