About the Scarlatti DAC

The dCS Scarlatti is a premium digital audio system comprising a SACD/CD transport, a DAC with dCS-patented 5-bit Ring DAC topology, and optional components including a Master Clock and Upsampler. The transport uses the TEAC Esoteric VRDS Neo mechanism with dual-laser and super-rigid construction for stable disc rotation. The DAC supports multiple digital inputs including dual and single AES/EBU, RCA, BNC, TosLink, IEEE1394, and SDIF-2, with switchable reconstruction filters and integral digital volume and balance controls, allowing direct connection to power amplifiers without a preamplifier. The system supports PCM sample rates up to 192kHz and DSD at 2.822MS/s. The optional Master Clock reduces jitter by providing a dedicated clock source, while the Upsampler converts audio to DSD or high-resolution PCM, adding USB asynchronous input for direct PC connection.
