The Oracle Delphi MkI, introduced in 1980, is a classic high-fidelity turntable praised for its engineering and sound quality. The upgraded version addresses earlier issues such as noisy motors and wow and flutter problems by incorporating a better motor (Pabst DC motor with a 1 lb flywheel), improved suspension system, and a thicker base plate. These enhancements reduce acoustic breakthrough and improve speed accuracy and stability. The turntable features a floating suspension system with selectable springs to tune the setup to specific tonearms, and includes a combined cartridge alignment protractor and stroboscope for precise speed setting. While the Delphi MkI (upgraded) offers excellent natural sound quality close to higher-end models, it has a slight weakness in deep bass response and record damping, common to freely suspended designs.
