About the Slant 8
The Apogee Slant 8 was produced from 1994 to 1998 as the effective replacement for the Centaur Major. It features an 8-inch Vifa dynamic cone woofer positioned 39 inches from the floor behind a grille cloth, and a 40-inch dipole aluminum ribbon midrange/tweeter. The cabinet is slanted to reduce internal standing waves, improving bass and midrange clarity, and providing a trapezoidal rear acoustic path for smoother midrange and treble response. The crossover is seamless to ensure a wide, stable soundstage with excellent image depth. The speaker supports bi-wiring and bi-amping via two pairs of binding posts, and includes a rear toggle switch to adjust woofer output by ±2 dB. It comes with spikes and screw-in sockets for stability. Available finishes are Black or Taupe Sand.
