About the OM-7
The Mirage OM-7 is an omnipolar loudspeaker designed to produce 360-degree sound dispersion by mounting five drivers on the front and rear baffles wired and firing in phase. It features a 3-way design with two 1" pure titanium hybrid tweeters, two 4.5" polypropylene midrange drivers, and one 8" polypropylene cone woofer. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and a power rating of 50-200 watts RMS. It offers a frequency response from 30 Hz to 20 kHz with a room efficiency of about 90 dB. The cabinet has a distinctive shape similar to electrostatic speakers, with a thin top and a wider base, finished in cherry veneer accents and available also in high-gloss black. The dimensions are approximately 43" H x 11.6" W x 14.1" D, and each speaker weighs about 80 lbs. The OM-7 is known for its laid-back, musical sound with excellent midrange and vocals, a wide sweet spot, and a large, room-filling sonic experience. Placement and room acoustics are important to achieve optimal imaging and sound quality. The speakers were highly regarded in their time and were a perennial Stereophile Recommended Component until discontinued a few years ago.
