The pairing
This is a digital-source system built as four separate boxes plus the loudspeakers, with each link in the chain chosen so the next component is never asked to repair the one before it. The Grimm Audio MU1 acts purely as a network transport: its FPGA reclocking and low-jitter master clock hand a clean bitstream to the CH Precision C1 over AES/EBU (24-bit/192kHz) or USB (to 32-bit/384kHz with DSD). Keeping the renderer and the conversion stage in separate chassis matters here because the C1's R-2R ladder is sensitive to timing noise on its input; a transport that resolves jitter before the data arrives lets the converter do its one job. Poor recordings get no cushioning here. It is also a digital-only chain with no phono stage and no analog inputs beyond the line level used here, so it does nothing for vinyl without adding components. Low-frequency reach stops at about 25Hz; that covers the foundation of most orchestral and electronic material, but the very bottom octave is absent, and this build includes no subwoofer to recover it.
