About the PRE
The EMM Labs PRE is Ed Meitner's reference stereo preamplifier, designed for maximum transparency and musical realism. It uses fully discrete dual-balanced Class A signal paths, with no integrated op-amps in the audio path, and EMM Labs' MVControl all-analog, software-governed volume control for precise, low-noise level adjustment. Built on Meitner Audio Architecture circuitry and a proprietary high-isolation resonant-mode power supply, it is engineered for wide bandwidth, low distortion, and vanishingly low noise. The PRE provides six stereo analog inputs (3 balanced XLR, 3 single-ended RCA) and three stereo analog outputs (2 balanced XLR, 1 single-ended RCA), enabling bi- and tri-amplification and flexible routing with programmable input naming and level presets. It is manufactured in Canada and housed in a precision-machined aluminum chassis, finished in fine bead-blasted silver or black with black insert and buttons, and operated from the front panel via conventional controls and display.
