About Focal

Founded in 1979 by engineer Jacques Mahul in Saint-Etienne, France, Focal is one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-fidelity loudspeakers, headphones, and professional studio monitors. The company designs and manufactures all its products in-house at its Saint-Etienne facilities, where it has pioneered proprietary driver technologies including pure beryllium tweeters, W-sandwich cone woofers, and Flax fiber diaphragms. Formerly operating under the name JM Labs, Focal rebranded in 2011 when it joined the VerVent Audio Group alongside Naim Audio, and in 2024 became a member of France's Comite Colbert alongside luxury houses such as Chanel and Hermes. Its product range spans home hi-fi speaker systems from the entry-level Chorus line through the flagship Grande Utopia, as well as professional studio monitors, automotive audio, and audiophile headphones.
