About the Paganini Upsampler

The dCS Paganini Upsampler is a digital-to-digital converter intended to be the hub of a high-end digital audio system. Accessing music from any digital source, it converts the audio from its native sample rate to either DSD (1-bit data at 2.822MS/s) or standard high-resolution PCM (24-bit data up to 192kS/s), elevating the performance of Red Book CD, digital streamers and music servers to a previously unsurpassed level. It offers an array of independently selectable digital inputs, upsampling rates and filter options for maximum flexibility. dCS pioneered the use of external clocks in digital audio, and the Upsampler's multi-stage Phase-Locked-Loop (PLL) system is highly effective at controlling jitter from the incoming audio stream. An asynchronous USB 2.0 input allows high-resolution audio to be played from a computer, with the source's audio stream locked to the Upsampler via a feedback pipe for dramatically lower jitter. The chassis is aerospace-grade aluminium with laminated acoustic damping panels to reduce vibration and magnetic effects, and a low-power LC display keeps electrical noise to a minimum. dCS's 'soft' approach to programmable logic allows new software and features to be added via update, adapting to changes in digital formats. The Upsampler is designed to partner the Paganini DAC and Transport, with performance further enhanced by the addition of the Paganini Master Clock.
