About the Duo Omega

Avantgarde Acoustic Duo Omega is a sophisticated horn loudspeaker system combining horn-loaded midrange and treble drivers with an active bass module. The midrange driver (M2-Omega) uses an Alnico magnet and a Kevlar cone coated with microfibers for damping, while the tweeter (H2-Omega) features a 25 mm diaphragm with a heavy ferrite magnet. The system employs a proprietary CDC crossover eliminating passive components at 2 kHz, enhancing signal purity and amplifier control. The active subwoofer Sub 225 includes two powerful 25 cm long-excursion drivers with neodymium magnets and a 250-watt amplifier, delivering authoritative bass. The loudspeakers are mounted on a steel-tube frame with adjustable spikes, measuring approximately 670 mm width and depth, and 1.67 m height, weighing about 65 kg each. The system offers a frequency range from 22 Hz to 30 kHz, an impedance of 18 ohms, and a high sensitivity of 104-107 dB/W/m, suitable for low-powered amplifiers. The design aims for exceptional resolution, dynamic expression, and low distortion, with a unique spherical horn profile for smooth acoustic impedance and controlled roll-off. The Duo Omega is regarded as a mixed design rather than a pure horn speaker due to its active bass integration.
