About the Andros PS1.2
The Andros PS1.2 is an evolution of the original Andros PS1 phono preamplifier, featuring a 100% analog tube circuit using 4 x gold pin JJ ECC83S/12AX7 tubes. It provides 47 dB gain for MM inputs and 67 dB gain for MC inputs, with selectable MC impedances ranging from 20 to 1000 Ohms. The unit is hand-built in the USA and includes a 50-hour factory burn-in on all circuits and tubes. It has a low noise level of -80 dBv below maximum output, ensuring quiet passages are clearly audible. The output impedance is 10 KOhm with a maximum output level of +8.5 V. The Andros PS1.2 uses a passive RIAA de-emphasis filter with accuracy within ±0.5 dB and features isolated ground RCA connectors with a ground on/off switch for optimal grounding configuration. The chassis is made of 16 gauge steel to reduce electronic interference, measuring 17" x 12" x 5" and weighing approximately 20 lbs. The design emphasizes clarity, dynamic range, and musical detail, with a reputation for revealing subtle nuances in recordings. It is the successor to the original Andros PS1 and predecessor to the Andros II, incorporating incremental improvements in power supply and circuit design for enhanced performance.
