The Von Schweikert Audio dB-99 MkII (also listed as dB-99SE MkII) is a three-way, high-sensitivity floorstanding loudspeaker designed to deliver high performance in small to medium-sized listening rooms. It uses a 10" super-duty woofer with a thick carbon-impregnated paper cone, a 7" cast-frame midrange driver with an exotic cone, and a 1" soft-dome tweeter hand-made in Norway, loaded into a shallow horn to increase sensitivity and control dispersion. The system is specified at 98-99 dB sensitivity measured in-room at one watt/one meter and an 8-ohm nominal impedance with a deliberately flat impedance curve to maintain amplifier stability. Claimed frequency response is 21 Hz to 25 kHz within +/-3 dB, allowing true full-range reproduction including deep bass. The cabinet measures approximately 43" high x 17" deep x 8" wide at the top x 13" wide at the bottom, with a narrow front baffle for imaging and a flared base for stability. Bass duties are assisted by an onboard 300-watt solid-state booster amplifier dedicated to the woofer section, giving the speaker characteristics similar to a powered loudspeaker in the low frequencies while the midrange and tweeter remain driven by the main amplifier.
