The SOTA Sapphire Series 5 turntable incorporates a floating seismic platform suspension with a 22 lb balanced sub-chassis hung from a four-point spring suspension system, providing excellent isolation from external vibrations. It features an internally damped, multi-layer 14 lb platter with an inverted bearing design that includes a sapphire thrust plate and chrome steel bearing for smooth rotation. The turntable uses an electronic vacuum system that provides LP clamping vacuum pressure of 3.0 Hg ± 0.2 Hg, enhancing record stability and sound quality. The motor is a high-efficiency A/C type with a double-regulated, synthesized sine-wave drive and balanced pulley, powered by an electronic flywheel ultra-regulated high-speed power supply. Speeds of 33-1/3 and 45 RPM are electronically switchable with fine tuning. The turntable includes an I-Clamp clamping device and an acrylic Supermat for additional damping. It supports interchangeable tonearms mounted on a bolt-through, multi-layer armboard block, with optional wood armboards and tension-hinged clear dust covers. The unit weighs approximately 44 lb (20 kg) with an additional 10 lb (9 kg) pump unit and measures 7-1/2" H (to top of dust cover) x 20-1/4" W x 16-1/2" D. It comes with a two-year parts and labor warranty. The design aims to maximize information retrieval from vinyl records with tight bass, precise transient response, and a natural, relaxed sound presentation.
