About the Resolution Modern
The Origin Live Resolution Modern turntable uses Origin Live's distinctive single-point cantilever sub-chassis, which is neither fully solid nor conventionally suspended, placing it in their 'suspended/suspensionless' design family. It employs a thick acrylic platter on an inert sub-platter, running on an oil-filled bearing with a highly polished steel spindle and thrust pad to minimise friction and vibration. The deck is engineered to deliver energetic, rhythmically incisive and highly detailed sound, with excellent dynamics, speed stability and timing. The standalone low-vibration DC motor, driven by an outboard electronic power supply and speed control, allows easy switching between 33 and 45rpm without moving the belt, and helps isolate motor noise from the platter. The Resolution Modern is relatively compact at roughly 19 1/4"W x 15 3/4"D x 6 3/8"H and about 20lb in weight, yet offers genuine high-end performance. There is no provision for a record clamp, which differentiates it from many other British turntables. It was frequently reviewed and sold in combination with Origin Live's higher-end tonearms such as the Illustrious, creating a front end noted for its lively presentation, speed, and purity of tone. At the time of its introduction it was positioned as the penultimate Origin Live model, sitting just below the Sovereign in the range.
