About the Full Range

The Apogee Full Range speakers feature a three-driver ribbon system with a 12-inch wide bass panel covering below 25-400Hz, a 2-inch wide midrange aluminum foil ribbon covering 400-3,500Hz, and a 1/2 inch wide twin back-to-back aluminum foil tweeter covering 3,500Hz to over 30,000Hz. They deliver vanishingly low distortion, virtually flat frequency response with a dynamic impact of 115 dB SPL at 4 meters using 100 watt per channel amplifiers in bi-amp configuration. The speakers are architecturally designed to fit most living rooms, measuring 80.5 inches tall, 35 inches wide, and under 4 inches deep, weighing approximately 300 lbs each. The impedance ranges from 1-4 ohms with transformer interface, with midrange direct drive impedance as low as 0.14 ohm. The crossover frequencies are at 400Hz and 3500Hz. The Full Range uses pure aluminum ribbons without Kapton or Mylar backing, contributing to a silky-smooth treble and deep, nimble bass that does not require subwoofers. The speakers are highly regarded for their natural, uncolored midrange and exceptional dynamic range, capable of reproducing classical music at concert hall levels and hard rock at ear-splitting volumes. Refurbished models are available with restored ribbons and cabinetry, often finished in semi-gloss black and dark cherry wood with custom stands. It is no longer manufactured.
