About Hovland Company
Hovland Company was a boutique American hi-fi audio manufacturer, incorporated in 1999 and known for its meticulous, audiophile-grade components. Founded by Robert (Bob) Hovland alongside Michael Garges, Jeffrey Tonkin, and Alex Crespi, the company first earned acclaim for its proprietary MusiCap capacitors before developing its own high-end preamplifiers (notably the HP-100 and HP-200), power amplifiers (Sapphire, RADIA, Stratos), and premium cables. All products were hand-assembled in Los Angeles to exacting standards, earning a reputation for both sonic excellence and beautiful industrial design. Hovland Company ceased operations in 2009.
