Burmester Audiosysteme GmbH is a German high-end audio manufacturer founded in Berlin in 1977 by Dieter Burmester (1946–2015). The company handcrafts all of its amplifiers, preamplifiers, CD players, and loudspeakers at its Berlin factory, with a philosophy centred on musical authenticity, symmetrical circuit topology, and uncompromising build quality. Burmester pioneered the world's first modular preamplifier (1980) and was among the first to employ symmetrical switching technology throughout the signal path (1983). Today the company remains an independently operated manufacturer and is recognised as one of the leading names in the global ultra-high-end audio market.
