About the 077
Introduced in 2007 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary 777 preamplifier, the Burmester 077 is designed in the elegant tradition of Burmester to provide an exquisite and relaxed listening experience. It features a dual-mono design for maximum channel separation and is completely DC-coupled without capacitors in the signal path, ensuring superior sound clarity. The volume control uses a newly developed circuit with 60 steps for Burmester and 85 steps per dB. Input sensitivity is individually adjustable by +/- 6dB for each input. It includes a high-performance operational amplifier for the RECORD output and supports two-zone applications with combined RECORD and 2nd zone outputs. The 077 offers global and separate zone setups, phase inversion, and balance control for each zone. It supports a DA converter module with upsampling technology, selectable automatic phono calibration, programmable MM and MC phono modules, and DAC module with upsampling choices of 96kHz or 192kHz. The preamplifier is housed in a solid aluminum enclosure with carbon fiber damping for mechanical isolation. Handmade in Berlin, it features hand-assembled printed boards, powerful X-Amp2 amplification stages, and high-quality XLR terminals. It integrates seamlessly into home theater systems via a Surround Thruput terminal and supports control via BurLink technology (RS232 and USB). The 077 is available with an internal or external power supply and includes multiple balanced inputs and outputs, headphone jacks, and optional input modules (Phono MC/MM, Line RCA, DAC USB/RCA). It weighs 25 kg and measures 450 mm width, 156 mm height, and 346 mm depth. The 077 is regarded as a versatile and audiophile-grade preamplifier that pays homage to Burmester's high-end legacy.
