About the Medea Plus
The Weiss Medea Plus is a flagship DAC that builds on the original Medea design by incorporating a 32-bit ESS SABRE32 DAC chip and a new output stage utilizing Weiss's state-of-the-art OP1-BP high-performance discrete bipolar transistors. It includes integrated Firewire input and glass optical upgrades, supporting multiple digital inputs such as XLR, RCA, Firewire, and optical connectors. The Medea Plus is renowned for its transparency, resolving power, and timbral accuracy, delivering a sound with virtually no sonic character of its own. It offers adjustable output voltage for optimal power amp sensitivity matching and a robust analog output stage capable of driving any power amplifier with ease. The unit supports PCM signals up to 24-bit/192kHz and features advanced jitter reduction through dual phase-locked loops and DSP-based upsampling to very high frequencies, ensuring minimal distortion and noise. The analog output stage operates in Class A with very low output impedance (~0.2 ohms), and the device includes front-panel controls for output level and gain settings. The Medea Plus is designed for audiophiles seeking a pure, transparent digital-to-analog conversion experience, suitable for direct power amplifier connection or use with a preamplifier.
