The ProAc Response D18 is a high-end floorstanding loudspeaker designed for audiophiles seeking detailed and balanced sound reproduction. It features a heavily damped, side-vented cabinet constructed with special materials to improve bass loading and reduce resonance. The bass/midrange driver is a new 6 1/2 inch (165mm) ProAc unit with a glass fibre weave cone, a large EXCEL magnet system, and a unique acrylic damping phase plug, delivering deep and controlled bass. The tweeter is a 3/4 inch dome unit with a honeycomb wound voice coil, special damping, and a ferrofluid-cooled coil assembly, providing a sweet and detailed high frequency response. The crossover uses the finest components on a dedicated circuit board with multistrand oxygen-free copper cable and supports optional bi-wiring or bi-amping. Dimensions are approximately 930mm high (38 inches including plinth and spikes), 190mm wide, and 265mm deep, with a weight of 25 kg (55 lbs) per speaker. Recommended amplifier power ranges from 20 to 180 watts, with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and a frequency response from 30Hz to 30kHz. Sensitivity is rated at 88 dB for 1 watt at 1 meter. The grille is acoustically transparent crimplene, and finishes include Black Ash, Mahogany, Cherry, Maple, Rosewood, and Ebony.
