The Koetsu Rosewood cartridge is a cornerstone of high-performance analog playback history, carefully crafted by Sugano-san using ultra high purity materials and aged parts to optimize performance. It features a natural (unvarnished) rosewood body, copper coil wiring, samarium-cobalt magnets, and a boron cantilever. The cartridge outputs 0.4 mV and weighs approximately 8.25 grams. It is recommended to be used with a tracking force of 1.8 to 2.0 grams and a load impedance between 75 and 500 ohms. Known for its warm, lush sound with a midrange focus, it recreates music with a natural and breathing quality extracted from vinyl grooves. The frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 100 kHz, with channel separation around 25 dB at 1 kHz and channel balance within 0.5 dB at 1 kHz. Compliance is about 5 x 10^-6 cm/dyne at 100 Hz. This cartridge is prized for its musicality rather than ultra-high resolution or speed, offering a rich, harmonically full sound signature.
