About the SKALA

The Lyra SKALA is a medium weight, medium compliance, low-impedance moving coil cartridge designed by Lyra Co. Ltd. It features an ultra low-mass contact stylus with a solid boron cantilever and a natural diamond line-contact stylus (3 by 70µm). The cartridge body is a two-piece composite structure with a vertical pillar machined from spring-grade phosphor bronze and a horizontal body machined from high-loss polymer, designed to control resonances effectively. It offers a frequency range of 10Hz to 50kHz, channel separation of 35dB or better at 1kHz, and an output voltage of 0.5mV at 5cm/sec. The cartridge weighs 9 grams (without stylus cover) and has a recommended tracking force of 1.65 to 1.75 grams. It is recommended to use high-quality pivoted or linear tonearms with adjustable anti-skating and preferably VTA adjustment.
