About the TD-W215
The JVC TD-W215 is a stereo double compact cassette deck released in 1994. It features dual decks with Dolby B and C noise reduction, HX-Pro headroom extension for improved recording quality, and auto recording mute. It supports tape types including normal (Type I), CrO2, and Metal tapes. The deck operates at tape speeds of 4.8 and 9.5 cm/s and uses a 4-track, 2-channel stereo system. It includes one record/playback head, one playback head, and one erase head, driven by one reel motor, one capstan motor, and one mechanism motor. The frequency response extends from 20Hz to 17kHz with metal tape, with a signal-to-noise ratio of 73dB (Dolby C), wow and flutter of 0.08%, and total harmonic distortion of 0.8%. Inputs and outputs are line level with 80mV input and 0.3V output. The unit measures approximately 435 x 134 x 328 mm (17.3 x 5.3 x 12.9 inches) and weighs about 4.9 kg (10.9 lbs). It has a titanium finish and comes with a remote cable. Additional features include COMPU LINK and DDRP (Dynamics Detection Recording Processor) compatibility. The deck was manufactured in Malaysia and is considered a reliable mid-1990s HiFi cassette deck suitable for stereo recording and playback.
