The Harman Kardon AVR 7200 is a flagship 7.1-channel Dolby Digital AV receiver designed for high-performance home theater and music, featuring Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES Discrete and Matrix, Dolby Pro Logic II, DTS Neo:6, Harman Kardon's exclusive Logic 7 processing, and VMAx virtual surround for two-speaker setups. It delivers a continuous 115 watts per channel into 8 ohms in stereo mode and approximately 100 watts per channel to all seven channels in surround mode, using a high-current, wide-bandwidth amplifier section. The receiver includes an advanced triple-crossover bass management system that allows independent crossover frequencies for front, center, and surround channels, and can store different bass management settings per input for precise system tuning. Connectivity is extensive, with multiple coaxial and optical digital audio inputs, front-panel digital inputs reassignable as outputs for dubbing, multichannel analog inputs, and component, S-Video, and composite video switching with HDTV-capable bandwidth. The AVR 7200 also supports MP3 decoding and uses Harman Kardon's EzSet automatic speaker level calibration via the LCD-equipped remote control. It offers full multiroom capability including line- and speaker-level Zone 2 outputs and an A-BUS (RJ-45) output for remote rooms. The chassis weighs approximately 29.9 kg and measures 440 x 192 x 520 mm. Like many receivers of its era, it predates HDMI and the latest HD audio formats, but remains highly regarded for its sound quality, power, and configuration flexibility. The AVR 7200 is no longer in current production.
