About the Amazing Silver Edition

The Amazing Silver Edition is a reduced-size version of Carver's Amazing Loudspeaker line, using three 12-inch woofers per channel and a 48-inch pleated ribbon derived from the later Platinum design. It is an open-baffle dipole without a conventional box enclosure, a configuration Carver promoted for its combination of high dynamic headroom and very deep, nearly flat bass extension to around 20 Hz. Like the other Amazings, the Silver's long, continuous ribbon was redesigned to be pleated for greater excursion, improved low-frequency extension, and higher power handling, while minimizing acoustic interference. The Silver Edition maintains a nominal 8-ohm impedance and moderate sensitivity in the high-80s dB range, making it less demanding to drive than the original Amazings but still best matched with robust amplification. As with other Carver Amazings, the foam woofer surrounds typically require periodic replacement, and while woofer parts and refoam kits are readily available, professional ribbon refurbishment is more specialized and expensive. The Silver Edition is significantly rarer on the used market than the original and Platinum versions and is sought after for its engineering and sound quality, with used pricing for clean, functional pairs typically in the mid-hundreds to low-thousands of dollars depending on condition and ribbon status.
