About the CXN V2 with Tube Output Stage
The ModWright Instruments modification of the Cambridge Audio CXN V2 replaces the stock DAC power supply with a proprietary design and substitutes the entire solid-state analog stage with an all-tube based analog stage, including its own power supply. This upgrade features a fully balanced signal path from input to output, with both RCA and XLR outputs. The tube stage uses 6922 tubes, Lundahl gapped output transformers, and a Class A tube preamp circuit derived from ModWright's Reference LS 300 preamp, resulting in a low noise floor, exceptional resolution, a large soundstage, and organic musicality. The unit supports USB, coaxial, and TOSLINK wired connections, as well as Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast built-in, Roon Ready (subscription required), Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, and high-quality internet radio streaming. It retains the original CXN V2's digital filter (2nd Generation ATF2 up-sampling to 24-bit/384kHz) and supports a wide range of audio formats including ALAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, DSD (x64), WMA, MP3, AAC, HE AAC, AAC+, and OGG Vorbis. The modification is housed in the original CXN V2 chassis and includes original packaging and accessories.
