About the IDA-16
The NuPrime IDA-16 combines advanced digital amplifier technology with innovative design to provide high-resolution audio playback with exceptional clarity and dynamic impact. It supports PCM up to 24-bit/384kHz and DSD decoding up to DSD256 (11.2MHz). The amplifier uses a patented Analog Switching Amplifier technology, an improved class-D design with a self-oscillating circuit generating pulse width modulation at 600kHz, which is well beyond typical class-D switching frequencies. This design achieves very low total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) of less than 0.004% and system efficiency up to 93%. The IDA-16 features a proprietary variable frequency Switch-Mode Power Supply (SMPS) and a large Cross-Matrix Array (CMA) capacitor bank to deliver high current on demand, resulting in authoritative bass and dynamic transient speed. Its volume control uses thin-film switched-resistor technology allowing precise volume adjustment in 99 steps of 0.5dB increments with individual input volume matching. The amplifier integrates all necessary stages within one chassis, minimizing signal path length and noise. Frequency response extends up to 80kHz, providing crystalline transparency, holographic imaging, and fatigue-free sound. The front end is inherently digital, converting analog inputs via A/D conversion, eliminating conventional analog preamp circuitry. The DAC section uses the ESS Sabre ES9018 chip, known for low distortion and high signal-to-noise ratio. The IDA-16 supports multiple digital inputs and one stereo analog input, making it versatile for modern high-resolution audio systems.
