About the Bardo Performance Edition

The Bardo Performance Edition is the performance version of Brinkmann's Bardo direct-drive turntable, distinguished primarily by its upgraded, metal-cased external power supply derived from the supplies used in Brinkmann's Balance and LaGrange reference models. This enhanced supply is designed to deliver tighter, more defined bass and wider, more spacious imaging compared to the standard Bardo. The turntable uses Brinkmann's proprietary magnetic direct-drive motor with analog speed control, providing exceptionally stable rotation at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm with fine adjustment via trim pots. The platter is a resonance-optimized aluminum alloy design, typically fitted with Brinkmann's crystal glass surface mat, and runs on a maintenance-free, high-precision bearing. The tear-shaped duralumin chassis offers optimized resonance control and supports a rotatable tonearm base that Brinkmann drills to order, accommodating tonearms from 9 to about 10.5-12 inches depending on arm specification. Signal outputs are on the rear of the chassis and can be configured with RCA or XLR outputs, with options for DIN connectors or fixed cables. The Bardo Performance Edition retains the core mechanical and motor architecture of the standard Bardo but adds the higher-grade power supply as its key performance upgrade.
