The Audio Note CDT-Five CD Transport is a radical and reference-class CD transport engineered specifically for sonic performance rather than just technical specifications. It features a valve-rectified power supply and a valve digital output stage with a custom-designed output transformer, all wired with Audio Note Pallas silver internal wiring and equipped with Black Gate capacitors. The transport uses a top-loading, in-house custom modified Philips CD Pro2LF mechanism mounted on a sprung sub-chassis to minimize vibration. It offers a single-ended RCA 75 Ohm digital output as standard, with an optional balanced XLR output available on request. The unit weighs 22 kg and is available with either a black acrylic or silver anodised aluminium fascia. It operates on AC 100-120V or 220-240V at 50/60Hz with a maximum power consumption of 60W. The CDT-Five is designed to extract maximum musical information from Red Book CDs, emphasizing musicality and resolution with a notably black background and fine detail retrieval.
