About the CD 5.1x

The Audio Note (UK) CD 5.1x is a high-end, one-box Red Book CD player combining a custom-modified Philips CD Pro 2LF top-loading transport with a non-oversampling, non-jitter-reduction digital section and a transformer-coupled valve analogue output stage. It uses an 18-bit Analog Devices AD1865N DAC, valve-rectified and regulated power supplies, Audio Note digital and analogue output transformers, and zero-negative-feedback, pure-Class-A circuitry. The manufacturer currently lists the CD 5.1x on its website and in its CD-player range, so it does not appear to be discontinued. Note that some third-party listings describe it as a Level 5 product, but Audio Note (UK)'s own product documentation identifies it as a Level Three Red Book CD Player.
