The ZYX UNIverse Cu/SB is a high-end low-output moving-coil phono cartridge from the original UNIverse series, configured with copper coils and an optional Silver Base (SB) metal mounting plate for added rigidity and mass. It is part of ZYX's UNIverse line (including variants like UNIverse, UNIverse II and UNIverse Optimum) but is specifically the copper-wired version, not the later Premium or Optimum models. The Cu/SB version shares the core UNIverse design of a very low-impedance moving-coil generator with a boron solid cantilever and Micro-Ridge solid diamond stylus, offering the highly resolving, natural midrange and wide soundstage characteristic of the UNIverse family, with the copper coil imparting a slightly warmer tonal signature compared to the silver or gold wire options. The Silver Base increases the cartridge weight from approximately 6.7 g to 7.9 g, extending compatibility with medium-mass tonearms. This model predates the UNIverse Premium and Optimum and is likely discontinued.
