The Benz Micro Gullwing SLR is a premium moving coil cartridge that combines design elements from the LP S class, Ruby, and Glider models. It features a solid brass open, free-floating body with a rhodium plating for enhanced electrical characteristics. The stylus is a nude line-contact diamond with a Micro Ridge shape and a tip radius of 3 x 60 µm. The cantilever is a solid boron rod with a diameter of 0.28 mm. The cartridge uses a square ruby jewel plate coil and an oversized neodymium magnet, the most powerful used in any moving coil design, allowing for high magnetic flux without overloading. It weighs 12.2 grams and has an output voltage of 0.34 mV at 3.54 cm/s, with an internal impedance of 38-40 ohms. The recommended loading is greater than 400 ohms, and the tracking force ranges from 1.8 to 2.2 grams, with an optimum of 1.8 to 2.0 grams. Frequency response spans 10 to 50,000 Hz ±1 dB, channel balance is better than 0.5 dB, and channel separation exceeds 35 dB at 1 kHz. The cartridge is designed for low to medium tonearm mass and requires a break-in period of about 40 hours. It comes with a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
