About the DAC 502
The Weiss Engineering DAC 502 is a premium digital-to-analog converter (DAC) renowned for its exceptional audio fidelity, advanced digital signal processing, and robust build quality. It features a pair of 32-bit ESS Sabre ES9018K2M DAC chips, a fourth-generation Analog Devices SHARC DSP, and a Texas Instruments Arm Cortex-A8 microprocessor. All digital signals, including DSD, are re-sampled to PCM at 195kHz before conversion, which Weiss claims significantly reduces jitter and improves signal quality. The unit is equipped with a powerful non-switching power supply, separate voltage regulators for each channel, and dual toroidal transformers for optimal noise isolation and channel separation. The DAC 502 supports a wide range of digital inputs and offers both balanced and unbalanced analog outputs, as well as a balanced headphone output on the MK2 version.
