The NSC 222 is a solid-state streaming preamplifier and DAC from Naim Audio's New Classic series. It combines a precision microprocessor-controlled volume stage with a moving magnet phono preamplifier, comprehensive network streaming capabilities, and a dedicated headphone amplifier. The unit supports multiple streaming platforms including Spotify Connect, TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, and internet radio, along with Google Cast, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth aptX, and Roon Ready functionality. It handles digital audio formats up to 32-bit/384kHz (WAV), 24-bit/384kHz (FLAC/AIFF), and DSD64/128. The preamplifier features a 5.5-inch color display, Zigbee remote control, and the Focal & Naim app for iOS and Android control. Analog inputs include moving magnet phono, RCA stereo pair, and 8-pin DIN. Digital inputs comprise two USB Type A sockets, two optical TOSLINK, and coaxial S/PDIF via both RCA and BNC connectors. Outputs include balanced XLR, unbalanced RCA, and 6.35mm headphone jack. The unit incorporates Naim's NP800 streaming card with LVDS balanced digital signals, dual master clocks for low jitter, and DSP RAM buffering for S/PDIF inputs.
