About the SCP-2T
The Vendetta Research SCP-2T is the final and most refined revision of the SCP-2 phono preamplifier series designed by John Curl. It is a dual-mono moving coil (MC) phono preamplifier with variable cartridge loading adjustable from approximately 50 to 234 ohms per channel. The SCP-2T incorporates significant upgrades over earlier models, including replacement of wires, FET transistors, and the addition of expensive Teflon capacitors and other proprietary treatments, resulting in improved distortion characteristics and sonic performance. The unit is highly regarded for its extremely low noise floor, exceptional resolution, delicate and detailed sound, and excellent imaging with powerful yet controlled dynamics. It is considered by many audiophiles as one of the best solid-state phono preamps ever made, with a sound quality that rivals much more expensive contemporary designs. The SCP-2T is rare and commands a high price on the used market, often between and . It does not invert polarity and offers RIAA accuracy within ±0.1 dB from 10 Hz to 100 kHz, with THD and IM distortion around 0.01% at 3 V output. The design emphasizes minimal noise and distortion, with a frequency response extending from 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz. The SCP-2T requires a separate power supply unit and is housed in a dual-mono configuration.
