About the SCP-2B
The Vendetta Research SCP-2B is a dual-mono phono preamplifier designed by John Curl, specifically for moving-coil cartridges. It features approximately 62 dB of gain at 1 kHz, with an optional 70 dB gain version. The SCP-2B offers adjustable cartridge loading from 10 to 200 ohms, with input impedance continuously variable and adjustable up to 47 kilohms. It does not invert polarity, unlike the earlier SCP-2A model. The unit is renowned for its ultra-low noise floor, high resolution, and transparency, delivering delicate and detailed sound without the edginess common in many solid-state preamps. It has a frequency response from 0.1 Hz to 1 MHz, RIAA accuracy within ±0.1 dB from 10 Hz to 100 kHz, and extremely low distortion (THD and IM distortion at 0.01% or less at 3 V output).
