About the MCS-1

The Thiel Audio MCS-1 is a 2.5-way ported loudspeaker with a unique coaxial midrange and tweeter driver sharing the same voice coil, providing a mechanical crossover that ensures perfect time coherence and reduces distortion. It features a 1" aluminum dome tweeter housed inside a 3.5" aluminum midrange driver, and two 6.5" aluminum cone woofers with cast magnesium chassis and short coil/long gap motor design to minimize distortion and resonance. The speaker has a sensitivity of 90 dB, a nominal impedance of 4 ohms suited for high-current amplifiers, and a frequency response of approximately 47 Hz to 23 kHz. Its robust one-inch-thick cabinet with internal bracing reduces resonance and diffraction, enhancing tonal and spatial performance. The MCS-1 can be used vertically or horizontally, making it suitable as a main, center, or surround speaker in home theater setups. It weighs about 61 lbs and measures 10" W x 28.5" H x 12.25" D. The speaker is video-shielded and includes binding post connectors. It is sold individually and comes with a 10-year warranty.
