About the TPA-3026A
The Tandberg TPA-3026A is a professional-grade stereo power amplifier produced in Norway from 1987 to 1996. It is highly regarded for its exceptional current delivery, rugged construction, and audiophile sound quality. The amplifier features a no-negative-feedback design, MOS-FET output devices, and a tightly regulated power supply with a toroidal transformer and large capacitors, enabling it to handle dynamic music and challenging speaker impedances with ease. The TPA-3026A is finished in matte black with optional rosewood end panels or 19-inch rack-mounting adapters. It includes left and right channel peak clipping and thermal overload indicators, but minimal user controls beyond a large rocker power switch. Separate power supplies for each channel enhance interchannel isolation. The amplifier is known for its warm, authoritative sound with a smoothly rolled-off high end, making it a favorite among discerning listeners.
