About the Systemdek II
The Systemdek II is a well-regarded vintage turntable launched around 1983 by Dunlop, featuring a two-speed (33 and 45 rpm) belt drive system with a 24-pole precision synchronous high torque motor mounted on an anti-vibration assembly. It has a 10mm thick, 1.73kg glass platter and a high-density lambswool record mat. The turntable offers excellent pitch stability with speed drift rated as nil, variation under load at 0.15%, wow and flutter at 0.09%, and rumble at 78/77 dB DIN weighted. The chassis is a sprung design, borrowing many features from the Systemdek III, and finished in silver and black. The unit weighs approximately 4.79 kg and measures 425 x 302 x 112 mm. This particular setup includes a Rega-type tonearm (similar to the Rega RB300) and an Audio-Technica ATF3 moving coil cartridge, known for its elliptical stylus mounted on an aluminum pipe cantilever for light weight and detailed sound reproduction. The Systemdek II is praised for its solid, well-contained sound with crisp mid-band and dynamic transient attack, making it a highly recommended budget audiophile turntable.
