About the Mondeuse

The Supratek Mondeuse is a pair of hand-built KT88 tube monoblock power amplifiers designed and built by Mick Maloney in Margaret River, Western Australia. It is rated at approximately 100 watts per channel in Class AB, and is voiced specifically to drive demanding loudspeakers, including electrostatic and planar designs, while retaining the ease and dynamics associated with high-efficiency SET systems. The commonly documented tube complement per monoblock is 1 x 6SN7 driver tube, 4 x KT88 output tubes, and 2 x 5AR4 rectifiers. Supratek describes the Mondeuse as offering excellent linearity, low distortion and unusually high damping factor for a tube design, giving solid-state-like control of the loudspeaker while maintaining valve tonality and harmonics. The amplifier is built to custom order only, with options to run EL34, KT66, 6N3C or KT88 output tubes to achieve its 100-watt Class AB specification, and is intended to visually and electrically match Supratek preamplifiers. Chassis and cosmetic execution are finished to a high standard, typically with polished metal and woodwork; specific copper or chrome chassis options may vary by individual commission.
