The Supratek Chenin is a versatile, all-tube preamplifier featuring a two-chassis design with a separate power supply and an integrated phono stage designed for low output moving coil (MC) cartridges. It supports cartridge input ranges from 0.1mV to approximately 2.5mV with a 4-way cartridge loading selector (47K, 1K, 100 Ohms, 10 Ohms). The preamp offers multiple inputs (Phono, CD, FM, Aux1, Aux2, HT) and outputs (Out 1, Out 2), all single-ended, and includes a remote control, which is rare for tube preamps. It has adjustable gain switches to optimize gain for different systems. The sound character is described as warm with great harmonics, laid-back delivery, and a balance between lush and neutral tonalities, offering excellent top-end clarity, solid bass, and wide, deep soundstage with good image separation. The unit is hand-built with high-quality components including exotic-core custom output transformers and uses tubes such as 6922, 6J6, KT66, and 6SN7.
