About the Lambda
Released in 1987 as a direct successor to the SR-Lambda Professional, the Stax Lambda Signature features a micron-thin diaphragm for extended frequency response and clean transient characteristics. It is a push-pull electrostatic headphone with a bias voltage of 230V, requiring a compatible electrostatic amplifier with a normal-bias output. The Lambda Signature is praised for its speed, ability to render music effortlessly even in complex passages, and excellent imaging capabilities. It has a distinctive midrange tuning with a prominent elevation between 1 and 2 kHz, contributing to its unique sound signature. The headphone weighs approximately 330g (455g with cord) and uses a Stax six-pin normal-bias connector. It is considered very transparent and detailed, with a warm sound that is slightly less bass punchy than some other models but with good body and presence. The cable is not replaceable, and a good acoustic seal is vital for sound reproduction below 100 Hz. The Lambda Signature is highly regarded among audiophiles and pairs well with high-quality electrostatic amplifiers.
