The Soundsmith Strain Gauge 410 phono preamp is a high-end component designed to work with the innovative Soundsmith Strain Gauge cartridge system. It features a frequency response from DC to 70 kHz and employs a unique design that requires no traditional multi-stage RIAA filter circuitry, instead using a single ultra-clean gain stage. This is possible because the Strain Gauge cartridge is a displacement device that automatically compensates for RIAA equalization, allowing for a simpler and cleaner preamp design. The SG-410 model includes one line input and remote control functionality, with fixed and variable balanced and unbalanced outputs via RCA jacks. The preamp is compact, measuring approximately 15.5" wide x 15" deep x 3.5" high, built on a 0.25" thick aluminum chassis. It supports standard 4-wire tonearm wiring and includes user-replaceable stylus assemblies for the cartridge.
