About the Cadence
The Jeff Rowland Design Group Cadence is a premium phono preamplifier designed for moving coil cartridges, featuring internal step-up transformers and four selectable cartridge loading and amplifier gain settings. It has a high mass, non-resonant chassis machined from 6061 aluminum to minimize microphonics and distortion. The Cadence offers balanced XLR inputs and outputs, with XLR to RCA adapters included for unbalanced connections. It provides two gain settings (64dB low gain and 74dB high gain) and four loading options (30, 50, 250, or 400 ohms) to match a wide range of cartridges. The frequency response extends from 0.5 Hz to 180 kHz with RIAA accuracy within ±0.03 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. It features a very low total harmonic distortion (<0.015%) and a high common mode rejection ratio of 130 dB at 60 Hz. The Cadence is typically powered by the Jeff Rowland Synergy or Coherence preamplifiers' power supply but can also be used with an optional standalone AC or battery power supply. Dimensions are approximately 17.5" W x 5.1" D x 3.15" H (44.5 cm x 13 cm x 8 cm) and it weighs about 27 lbs (12 kg). The unit is highly regarded for its natural, unforced sound and extremely low noise floor, making it a sonic reference in its class.
