About the Boheme

The Soundsmith Boheme is a high output moving iron phono cartridge featuring a nude contact line stylus with a 0.120mm square tip, designed to deliver exceptional air, dynamic range, and soundstaging. It has a reduced moving mass and greatly reduced jitter, contributing to its clarity and musicality. The cartridge has an output voltage greater than 2.12 mV at 5 cm/sec, a DC resistance of 680 ohms, and coil inductance of 190 mH per channel. Recommended tracking force is approximately 10 mN (1.0 gm) for high compliance and 13 mN (1.3 gm) for medium compliance. It is designed for loading of 47 kΩ or higher and suggested preamp gain between 38 and 44 dB. The Boheme is handcrafted in the USA and is no longer in production, but Soundsmith offers a unique rebuild and service policy for this model. The cartridge weighs about 6.8 grams and is praised for its broad, deep soundstage and enormous dynamic range.
