About the PB1i

The PMC PB1i is a high-end floorstanding loudspeaker using PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading to deliver extended bass response down to a rated 24Hz, making it well suited to medium and larger rooms where full-range performance is required. It employs a three-way design with twin 170mm (6.5-inch) PMC-designed doped bass drivers in cast alloy/magnesium chassis, a 75mm (3-inch) soft-dome midrange in its own acoustically controlled sub-enclosure, and a PMC/SEAS soft-dome tweeter developed specifically for this series. The drivers are integrated via a 24dB/octave crossover network with points at 380Hz and 3.8kHz, providing smooth, wide-band integration and good dispersion. The tall, narrow, and relatively deep cabinet incorporates PMC's multi-section ATL line with a stabilising plinth and levelling spikes, finished in real wood veneers including Oak, Walnut, Black Ash and Cherry. The PB1i is suitable for tri-wiring or tri-amping, allowing flexible system configuration and straightforward partnering with a wide range of quality amplifiers. It is noted for its articulate, dynamic yet unforced character that prioritises natural musical flow over showy hi-fi effects. Dimensions including plinth are approximately 1084mm (42.5-inch) high, 204mm (8-inch) wide and 401mm (15.8-inch) deep, weighing about 26kg (57lb) per speaker.
