About the LB1

The PMC LB1 is a compact 2-way transmission line passive studio monitor using a 27mm silk/fabric soft-dome tweeter and a 110mm woofer with a 75mm voice coil in a tall, narrow stand-mount cabinet. It offers a usable frequency response of 35Hz to 25kHz, peak SPL of around 114dB at 1m, and sensitivity of about 87 to 89dB (1W/1m) depending on version, with a 4 ohm nominal impedance and recommended amplifier power up to roughly 250 to 300W. The enclosure employs PMC's Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) loading with an effective line length of about 1.7m, providing extended low-frequency performance from a very small footprint. Typical applications include broadcast and DVD authoring suites, A/V edit rooms, home and project studios, and classical music monitoring, where reference-grade, full-range monitoring is needed but space is limited. The cabinet is a tall, slim bookshelf/stand-mount design (approximately 180mm W x 534mm H x 268mm D, about 8.5kg each) and is available in several finishes including black ash, walnut, and rosewood depending on variant. The LB1 range includes LB1 Classic, LB1 Signature (with improved construction and crossover and a signed certificate), LB1M (magnetically shielded for use near video monitors), and LB1C (horizontal centre version for surround systems). The crossover frequency is 2.5kHz and the speaker supports bi-wiring/bi-amping via dual binding posts. Many users and reviewers note its pinpoint imaging, neutrality, and high resolution, making it well-suited to very critical monitoring in small control rooms.
