About the iDAC

The Peachtree Audio iDAC is a high-performance digital-to-analog converter designed to serve as a central hub for digital music sources including computers, iPods, Apple TV, cable boxes, and more. It features a PURE DIGITAL iPod dock that bypasses the iPod's internal DAC for superior sound quality. The iDAC uses the ESS 9016 Sabre32 32-bit DAC chipset with patented jitter-reduction technology, supporting up to 24-bit/96kHz via USB and 24-bit/192kHz via S/PDIF inputs. It includes two coaxial, two optical (Toslink), one USB input, and an iPod dock, along with component and S-video outputs for video signals from the iPod. The device employs a multi-layer DAC board with over 450 components, a linear power supply, and eleven regulated sub-supplies to minimize noise and distortion. Transformer-coupled digital inputs and galvanically isolated USB input further reduce noise from ground loops and computer switching power supplies. The iDAC offers selectable Hi-Bit/Lo-Bit and filter modes (NOS/NAL) to tailor sound characteristics. It comes with a remote control and supports various iPod models including classic, nano, and touch generations. Dimensions are approximately 9" W x 3.5" H x 10" D, weighing 8 lbs, finished in high gloss black, with a 1-year warranty.
